The importance of instilling the concept of...
We love to dress up when we tell a story. For our story time The Easter Egg Farm, we made this cute hen mask for Pauline the Hen. We got the idea for this craft from Giada at www.quandofuoripiove.com.
Here are the step-by-step instructions for making this cute hen mask craft.
You will need:
Egg carton
Red and orange paint
Black marker (Sharpie)
Scissors
Black craft paper (optional)
Instructions:
Draw the hen mask outline with the black marker on the inside of the egg carton as shown here:
Cut out the mask
Paint the beak orange and the comb red. Drill the holes for the eyes with the scissors. NOTE: Make them large enough to see through. With the black marker draw a thick black circle around the eyes.
You can keep the mask as is but we wanted to give her some eye lashes. (NOTE: Real chickens don't have eye lashes, their eyes are very similar to that of a Fish, but with a hard eyelid.)
Cut two small rectangles out of black paper and make some cuts to one side. Glue piece to the eye sockets. When dry, bend the lashes upwards.
With scissors drill a hole to each side of the mask.
Drill a hole to each side with the scissors. Then, attach the elastic band.
Cluck, Cluck Red Hen
(Tune: Baa-Baa Black Sheep)
Cluck, cluck red hen
Have you any eggs?
Yes sir! Yes sir!
As many as your legs!
One for your breakfast
And one for your lunch!
Come back tomorrow,
I'll have another bunch!
Cluck, cluck red hen,
Have you any eggs?
Yes sir! Yes sir!
As many as your legs!
