Snowman Snow Globe Craft

What you need:

  • Clear Plastic Cups
  • Tag board
  • Clear Cellophane Glitter
  • Large and Small White Puff Balls
  • Small Google eyes
  • Plastic Beads
  • Old Lip Balm Caps (optional)
  • Glue
  • Scissors

Steps:

Cut tag board into circles a little larger than the openings of the clear plastic cups. Give each child three puff balls --small, medium, and large-- to glue together in a stack from largest to smallest. Place the glue in old plastic caps so children can dip the puffballs into the glue for easy application. Give puff ball stacks time to dry completely.

Once puff ball stacks are dry, let children add eyes and buttons to their snowmen. Old lip balm caps make great hats. Use a permanent black marker to make each cap black. Once dry, each child can dip a cap in glue and stick it on top of his or her snowman to make a top hat. Give snowmen time to dry completely.

Preschool Activities:

Have children smear thin layers of glue to the tag board circles they will use as bases for their snow globes and the insides of their clear plastic cups. Have them sprinkle clear cellophane glitter over the layers of glue on the circles and sides of the cups. Remind them that too much glitter inside the cups will make it difficult to see the snowman inside. Once glitter has dried, have children dip the bottoms of their snowmen in glue and attach them to their tag board circles.

Then, let children dip the rims of their plastic cups in glue and glue the cups upside-down over their snowmen to finish the snow globes.
