Pete the Cat Snack

Making snacks related to books read during story time provides opportunities for your preschool and kindergarten students to practice following directions.

Pete the Cat Snack for Preschool and Kindergarten

Make this cute Pete the Cat snack together with your children. Look at the pictures together and discuss the steps. Use words like first, then, next, last.

What you need:
English muffin
Banana
Blueberry jam
Raisins
Blueberry
Pretzel sticks

Knife (plastic if children are doing the cutting)

Instructions:
First, take one half of the English muffin and cut the top piece off.

Next, cut the top piece into three triangles.

Preschool Activities: 

Then, use two of the triangles to make the cat's ears.

Next, spread the blueberry jam on top of the muffin pieces.

Preschool Activities: 

Then, cut a banana slice and cut in half.

Preschool Activities: 

Add a raisin to each eye and a blueberry for the nose.

Preschool Activities: 

Last, add pretzel sticks for the cat's whiskers. Voila, you've got Pete the Cat!

Sing the song "Soft Kitty" as you eat your Pete the Cat snack.
